Trier Catholic Diocesan Archives

G’day everyone

The LDS have added a new database to their Family Search website; it’s the parish registers held in the catholic diocesan archive in Trier (1704-1957).

There are images of the actual records, but because of the agreement that the LDS have with the archive, you’ll need to go to an LDS library to view them over the LDS intranet.

Wow that sounds like a great new resource, especially for those of Catholic descent. Thanks for letting us know about it!

Not really new, been there at least 2 years, but errors are plenty.  Several parishes had been misidentified with wrong villages.

Like Irsch, Bitburg - is actually Irsch, Saarburg (or Irsch bei Beurig)
Scheiden, Bitburg, is actually Scheiden, Saarburg
etc

These errors had been reported and still have not been corrected.

I double-checked with the actual images online as well as the Familienbuch for these places.
